Speech Processing and Transcription
SpeechInk is designed with privacy in mind.
Speech transcription is performed locally on your device using on-device AI models and/or Apple-provided on-device speech recognition technologies whenever available.
Speaker diarization features (speaker detection and separation) are also processed locally on your device.
Audio recordings and generated transcriptions are not uploaded to our servers for processing.
Your recordings and transcriptions remain under your control unless you explicitly choose to export or share them yourself.
Microphone Access
SpeechInk may request access to your device’s microphone to:
Record audio for transcription.
Enable live transcription features.
Detect and separate speakers when using diarization features.
You can manage or revoke microphone permissions at any time through your device settings.
Speech Recognition Access
SpeechInk may request permission to use Apple Speech Recognition technologies to enable transcription and live speech-to-text features.
Speech recognition processing may be performed using Apple-provided technologies and/or local AI models running directly on your device.
We do not use this permission to collect or store your speech data on our servers.
You can manage or revoke speech recognition permissions at any time through your device settings.
Files and Media Access
SpeechInk may request access to your files or media library to:
Import existing audio recordings for transcription.
Export or save generated transcripts.
Imported files remain stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them yourself.
Analytics Data
We use Amplitude analytics services to understand how users interact with the app and improve performance and user experience.
This data may include:
Device type
Operating system version
App version
Feature usage
Crash and performance data
Analytics data is collected in an aggregated and anonymized manner where possible.
2. How We Use Information
The collected information is used to:
Provide, maintain, and improve transcription features.
Improve transcription accuracy, performance, and reliability.

If cloud backup services provided by your device platform are enabled (such as Apple iCloud backups), your data may also be included in those backups according to your device settings.

The app may use technologies similar to cookies (such as local storage or device identifiers) to:
